About Hasheel

Hasheel is a South Asian Queer Hindustani Classical Musician with a rich history in music that began at the tender age of five. A senior student of the legendary Pandits Hariprasad Chaurasia and Ajay Pohankar, Hasheel has excelled in both Indian and Western musical traditions. He has built a diverse portfolio, composing original works and performing globally, including collaborations with renowned artists like A. R. Rahman. His unique style blends traditional Indian Classical music with hip-hop, electronica, and R&B, pushing the boundaries of gender fashion and musical genres.

His early training began at the age of 3 under his father, and then later on under the guidance of Sri Narendara Dattar, Sri Jeetu Sharma, and Padma Shri Padmaja Phenany Joglekar.

"True creativity comes from stillness... you must find that quiet space within and perform as if you were performing for yourself or for God."

Chai & Jam is a concert series that features musicians from various lineages who meet for the first time on stage. Each performance is a curated jam session blending the exceptional technique, passion, and culture of our paired artists.

Our purpose is to highlight each artist’s ability to improvise and collaborate cross-culturally while showing the world how quickly strangers can become family.
